Week 11 Summary

Welcome to the midway point of our regular season GM's! If I could sum up the entire week I would simply say "the strong get stronger and the weak get weaker".  Legion of Doom continues to bounce back from his first loss by dealing a hefty defeat to Team burd.  St. Pappys falls to an Eastern powerhouse, Mötley Krüg.  She'll be racking up the wins soon now that she has Stamkos!  Legen...Wait For It...Dary puts up another win to bring her streak to 9 straight by cruising past Team Pastorella.  Jesus Krejci, My Team Sucks! finally pulls a win from Moulson ICE.  Keep Calm And Bergeron starts his first winning streak in some weeks after defeating Fresh Prince of Briere.  Don't Toews Me Bro slips past 18 Wheeler to tie St. Pappys for the lead in the West again!

This week we have one epic match coming our way!  Our number one and number two teams will face off!  Legion of Doom looks to continue his league domination, but has the seemingly endless winning streak of Legen...Wait For It...Dary standing in his path.  This is sure to put both teams to the test, and if Legen...Wait For It...Dary comes out on top, she'll have Legion of Doom all tied up for the lead in the East!  Both teams refuse to let the other pass their amazing records, but one must fall!
1st Place Legion of Doom vs. 2nd Place Legen...Wait For It...Dary

Now onto our highlights!

(W) Legion of Doom: 149.5
(L)  Team burd:  103.7

As the first half of our season drew closer Legion of Doom had but one name left on his list to cross off before our schedules recycle.  Team burd was that name, and it's never a good week to be "that" name on Legion of Doom's list.  Although Team burd got off to a nice start taking a 12.1 point lead at the end of the first night it just wouldn't be nearly enough to challenge the tyrant, Legion of Doom.  Both teams furiously picked up players to fill out the roster spots, but team burd was continuously tripped up by his lackluster goalie's performances.  With 5 starts and just 1 win they never gave him a chance to compete against Legion of Doom's 7 starts and 6 wins.  This loss comes as a crushing blow to Team burd who has struggled in the beginning of the season with an injury plagued team, and once they became healthy he was staring down the barrel of two dominant Eastern teams (Mötley Krüg and Legion of Doom).  Both teams dealing devastatingly lopsided victories to end Team burd's 3 game win streak.  There's only one way to sum up the feelings of a double loss like this.
Team burd takes 2 hard losses to the face, but what a champ for getting back up!
There you have it Team burd, your anguish of these two consecutive defeats in one animated picture.  You're the reason why there's a sportsmanship award at the end of the season!  Getting out there and sacrificing your body relentlessly for the greater good.  Pat yourself on the back when you see that big red mark on your forehead and a black eye because those were earned, but next time.... let the goalie save at least the 2nd kick!

(W) Mötley Krüg:  144.6
(L) St. Pappys:  124.9

If there was ever a stunning defeat to define all others, this would be it!
Mötley Krüg simply put her head down and trucked right over St. Pappys despite his relentless charge towards her.  That's just raw power and talent that ran you over buddy!  Mötley Krüg took a small lead after the first night, but saw it quickly erased over the next two nights by a rather healthy 9.8 points.  With St. Pappys in the lead Mötley Krüg kicked it into high gear and absolutely demolished St. Pappys.
St. Pappys run down after taking the lead, and she came back to add insult to that injury!

Just like the picture says, St. Pappys was looking towards a runaway victory after two strong nights to take back the lead, but Mötley Krüg chased his ass down and bundled him.  But she wasn't satisfied with simply taking the lead, she had to let St. Pappy's have it a second time as well.  Now let me explain here a bit... St. Pappys played 8 more games than Mötley Krüg in the skater categories (which is the equivalent to playing a full roster more than Mötley Krüg!)  AND he had double the amount of starts for his goalies as well (10 starts)!  Despite being on the wrong side of that equation Mötley Krüg not only walked away with the win.  She did it by almost 20 points!  It appears that grabbing Stamkos last week has her firing on all cylinders!  This loss also threw St. Pappys into another tie for the lead in the West.  You know what... just 1 picture does not describe this enough.... we need some reaction shots from both teams!
Mötley Krüg crypt walking for her winning dance

St. Pappys not taking the loss too lightly!

(W) Legen...Wait For It...Dary:  115.1
(L) Team Pastorella:  90

Another day as Queen of the league, and another victory to put on her overstocked winning shelf.  The Legen...Wait For It...Dary Queen of our league has stretched her winning streak to 9 games with a rather easy defeat to Team Pastorella.  Despite her awful goalie performance she dominated the skating categories and easily made up for that disadvantage.  However, I'm not highlighting her win this week rather I'm highlighting all 9 of her wins to date.  As I covered last week, the majority of her wins have come within small marginal victories over and over.  Each time rising to the challenge and gleefully handing out the defeat.  I think this picture will perfectly describe her climb to the legendary title of "Longest Wining Streak".
Legen...Wait For It...Dary quietly took out the entire league
Ah, there's our league represented by that little kid gawking at a sea of pumpkins... which one to choose?  Innocently playing in a fun fantasy hockey league you never hear the quiet rumble of that pumpkin rolling towards your face with a payload of defeat, nicknamed Legen...Wait For It...Dary.  Maybe a slight breeze knocked it ajar, or maybe a bird shat on the other side of that pumpkin with enough velocity to knock it loose, I don't know that shit was crazy.  More than likely it was strokes of luck mixed in with a talented group of scorers, but nonetheless our entire league was caught off guard and simply crushed by the Legen...Wait For It...Dary Queen.  Well, all but 2 of us have been crushed.... Legion of Doom and Keep Calm and Bergeron avoided defeat at her hands in the first 2 weeks of the season, and now they square off against here back to back.  First Legen...Wait For It...Dary will have to get through the tyrant Legion of Doom to reach the fabled double digit win streak, and IF she succeeds she'll have a warming up Keep Calm and Bergeron to deal with for win number 11.  Her first hurdle will be a mighty one, but you'd be a statistical fool to count her down just yet.  If she can topple the tyrant King Legion of Doom she'll tie him for the lead in the East and for the number 1 spot in the league.  If she fails she'll miss the double digit win streak and she'll be in a tie for 2nd place in the East with a surging powerhouse, Mötley Krüg.

Well GM's with half of this season almost behind us we are getting a good luck at what certain teams have to offer.  The Eastern Conference has shaped up into a 3 headed monster with Legion of Doom, Legen...Wait For It...Dary, and Mötley Krüg being those heads.  All 3 teams are 1, 2, and 3 in the entire league.  In fact the 4th place team in the East would qualify as a 2nd place team in the West!  Meanwhile the Western Conference has been a blood bath brawl between 5 teams for the top 3 slots.  We've seen up to a 4 way tie for first place, and currently they are sitting in a tie for first between St. Pappys and Don't Toews Me Bro and another tie for 2nd place between the father-son duo of Team Pastorella and Fresh Prince of Briere.  All of those ties come with Team Burd nipping at their tales with just 1 win between his current 5th place standing and 2nd place in the West.  Keep in mind that the last two teams from each division do not make the playoffs at the end of the season.  This little fact should put Team burd on high alert to start making those wins at any costs!  The last two teams in the East need a lot more climbing to get off that bottom rung in the next 11 weeks if they have any hopes to make it to the playoffs.  In the event of a tie between teams that will make the playoffs and teams that will not I believe the total "points for" (which is the sum of all your weekly scores) will be used as a tie breaker.  Teams that do not make the playoffs still compete with others that did not as well during the playoff time.  With these notes on the halfway point of our season I can offer only one piece of advice for you all...
1 Half down, 1 Half to go till the playoffs!

One more quick note.  I will be traveling abroad with my wife over the next two weeks and thus will likely not be available to do the weekly write-ups.  If available I'll do what I can, but if not I'll do a massive update when we are back in the US.  Until then we may see a write-up or two from our 1st League Manager (Keep Calm and Bergeron)... for those of you that didn't know I'm the 2nd League Manager (Legion of Doom... and hence the signature "LM (2)"

Week 10 Summary

The West finally has a winner, and it looks like he's getting ready to run away with it!  St. Pappys gave an epic beat down to 18 Wheeler last week earning himself the "Victory Dance" trophy for scoring the most points in a single week, and grabbing the lead in the West (as I predicted!) from the three-way tie we saw after last week.  This forces Don't Toews Me Bro, who lost to Keep Calm and Bergeron last week, to take the Time to get back up! award for losing his grasp on the lead in the West.  Legen...Wait For It...Dary easily overtakes Jesus Krejci, My Team Sucks! to stretch her winning streak to 8 games now!  She now holds the longest winning streak this season!  Fresh Prince of Briere takes out Moulson ICE and is now in a three-way tie for second place in the West.  Mötley Krüg, who we will all loath playing against next season, picks up her 4th straight win after putting the smack down on Team burd.  Finally, Legion of Doom is back on a wining streak with his 2nd straight win against Team Pasorella.

This week Legen...Wait For It...Dary will try and add a 9th straight win as she faces off against Team Pasorella.  St. Pappys will find a true test against Mötley Krüg.  All while Don't Toews Me Bro, Team Pastorella, and now Fresh Prince of Briere will be eyeing St. Pappy's heels if he loses!

Team Pastorella drops Stamkos
Before we start with the highlights I need to address what I think is a lack of understanding, or lack of even attempting to understand, of one of our rules.  Since the beginning of this season we are officially in a KEEPERS league.  This means that at the end of the season we each get to pick 3 players from our current rosters to carry over to next season.  That means the 3 people everyone choose from their teams will NOT be in the draft next season, instead they will automatically be on your new roster.  I covered this new rule in a previous post, which I emailed out to the league as well (League Rules Explained).  Now, as some of you have noticed, Team Pastorella DROPPED Steven Stamkos on December 5th.  Most likely Team Pasorella did this because Stamkos is injured right now and may not return this season.... BUT we are in a KEEPER LEAGUE , dropping the number 1 draft pick for any reason other than he's dead is a BONE HEAD MOVE!  Granted I understand that he just wanted to free up some room on his injury plagued team, but dropping literally anyone else besides the guy that averages an astounding 4.2 points per game when healthy is plain and simple... dumb.... There is one person happy about this news, and that is Mötley Krüg who picked Stamkos up for a steal!  All she had to do was drop Michael Ryder and pick up Stamkos from waivers.  So just as a friendly reminder WE ARE IN A KEEPERS LEAGUE.... so Team Pastorella... you lost the number 1 draft pick forever because Mötley Krüg is sure to never let him go.

Mötley Krüg will never letting Stamkos go

My reaction at Team Pastorella Dropping Stamkos... and realizing I'm never going to be able to pick him up

Now onto the highlights (get ready to kneel before the Legen...Wait For It...Dary QUEEN of our league)!

Legen...Wait For It...Dary Breaks the longest winning streak record!
Legen...Wait For It...Dary counted down the final minutes of Sunday's game as she was sure to win against the redheaded stepchild of the league, Jesus Krejci, My Team Sucks! and when that clock hit zero you bet your ass Legen...Wait For It...Dary celebrated!  The new Queen of our league deserves that celebration too.  She started out with a face plant this season, losing both of her season openers in lopsided victories.  Since then she's bounced back to become an absolute force in our league.  She doesn't find her way to the top of any category, except the one that counts the most... WINS.  Out of her 8 wins 63% of them were absolute nail biters where she won by less than 10 points!  The other 37% of her wins were dominating blowouts.  She simply brings the heat day in and day out, and like I said it doesn't get her to the top of goals, assists, or +/-.  It simply gets her to the top of the wins category, and everyone can agree that is the most important.  I'd typically try to put a spin on something like this to turn the league against such an astounding winner, but she EARNED this pure and simple.  If you ever find yourself loving underdogs, then you will join me in hailing in the Queen of our league who lives up to her team name... Legen...Wait For It...Dary!  Now prepare for her to make this league her bitch!
The Legen...Wait For It...Dary Queen officially made this league her BITCH

Now I didn't post that image with just Legen...Wait For It...Dary in mind.  We have another female who has been dominating in our league, Mötley Krüg!  Mötley Krüg brought Team burd to his knees last week with a winning deficit of 66.1 points.  She took t he lead on day 1 and from then on she wouldn't have seen Team burd even if she turned around to look.  She only has 3 blemishes on her record so far.  Her 1st blemish came from The Legen... Wait For It...Dary Queen of our league, the 2nd was from the tyrant Legion of Doom, and the 3rd was to Don't Toews Me Bro!  All 3 losses were to high powered teams that most of us have lost to as well.  But Mötley Krüg now has a secret ace up her sleeve!  She was the lucky attentive person who saw Team Pastorella drop Stamkos... and she was lucky enough that the 4 people ahead of her in the waivers never...saw...it...happen!  This powerhouse of a team now has the number draft pick PERMANENTLY in her back pocket!  She's sure to be a dynasty for many seasons to come due to that move.  Oh, and as for Team burd on this loss, well... the whole match could be summed up as this...
Mötley Krüg SLAMMING it down on Team burd for the win

As predicted here, St. Pappys has taken the lead of the West!  Humbled from a series of devastating losses, but still as talented as ever, St. Pappys has been quietly rising the ranks all the way to the tippy-top of the Western division!  He now has 3 straight wins after taking down 18 Wheeler with no mercy what so ever.  And it was the perfect scenario as Team Pastorella and Don't Toews Me Bro! both lost their games ending the three-way tie for the lead in the West.  With this comes a series of accolades for St. Pappys.  He earned the highest points for the week award and the Stocky! award for blowing past the Western competition to take the lead.  St. Pappys will be looking to whip the Western division into shape with his overwhelming tactics of good strategic pickups making it feel like he has a full roster ever night.  And I do mean strategic... St. Pappys does his homework and is almost always ahead of the curve.  Something tells me that St. Pappys, the St. Pappys we all know from previous seasons, is back... and he's not going away any time soon again!
St. Pappys leapfrogs and face-plants Don't Toews Me Bro! for the lead in the West!

Before we wrap this up I just wanted to give you guys a live feed of The Legen...Wait For It...Dary Queen's parade down Sudden Death 3.0's roads!  She's sure is humble with her new title!
The Legen...Wait For It...Dary Queen's humble arrival... wait till her acceptance speech!

Good luck in the halfway point of the season this week GM's!

Week 9 Summary

Before we begin I just want to apologize for this late post.
From the looks of it about half of the league took Thanksgiving off because we had almost nothing but landslide victories!  Legion of Doom bounced back from his first loss and took out Jesus Krejci, My Team Sucks! by 12.8 points and scored the most points in the week!  It looks like the tyrant didn't take losing lightly.  St. Pappys is officially back on the winning track with a 35.1 point victory over Keep Calm and Bergeron who is now on a 4 game losing streak.  Team Burd continues to bounce back from his early season injuries by beating 18 Wheeler by 53.7.  Mötley Krüg prevented Team Pastorella from taking the lead in the West by delivering a 23.7 point loss to him.  Moulson ICE also prevented Don't Toews Me Bro from taking the lead in the west by defeating him by 34.4 points.  Finally the only person who had to work hard for a victory last week, Legen...Wait For It...Dary struggled mightily with Fresh Prince of Briere, but came out on top by just 6.7 points.  This gives Legen...Wait For It...Dary a winning streak of 7 games which now ties her with Legion of Doom for the longest winning streak this season.

This week our highlight games come from Legen...Wait For It...Dary who will almost undoubtedly surpass Legion of Doom for the longest winning streak by defeating Jesus Krejci, My Team Sucks (who hasn't made a move on his team for some weeks now).  There are three other matches we'll keep our eyes on and they come from the three way tie for the lead in the west between Don't Toews Me Bro, St. Pappys, and Team Pastorella.  Each of them will be facing formidable opponents and we may see a definitive leader in the West emerge before 2014!

The league just might have a new ruler!
Legen...Wait For It...Dary's response to that line
Sure Legion of Doom currently sits atop the standings, but he's had Legen...Wait For It...Dary nipping at his heels ever since week 3.  She suffered losses the first two weeks of the season, but she's been on a red hot winning streak!  She's actually tied with Legion of Doom for the lonest winning streak this season (7 games), and this week she faces off against a team that hasn't made a roster move for weeks.  So it looks like she will easily turn in a big W to turn that streak into 8 leaving Legion of Doom in the dust.  If that doesn't convince you enough then she also just took out the same team that delivered Legion of Doom's undefeated streak as well!  It's sure starting to sound like she may overthrow the tyrant and run away as the Queen Boss of the league.
Legen...Wait For It...Dary being soo modest with her new "Queen of the league" title
Lets take a dive into her latest victory over Fresh Prince of Briere, who once again just ran out of Febreze to freshen up the end of the week, but that's no surprise because what's a simple Prince to a Queen of the league?  In the beginning of the week it looked like Fresh Prince of Briere was ready to dominate as he took a commanding 22.6 point lead going into Friday night.  But like I said, that Febreze bottle keeping him fresh ran out.  The queen, Legen...Wait For It...Dary, started to show up on the scoreboard Friday night and took the lead from Fresh Prince of Briere by Saturday night.  You have to learn at some point, the Queen is never late, the peasants just arrive early! With just 2 winning nights during the entire week Legen...Wait For It...Dary overtook Fresh Prince of Briere by a slim margin, but none the less it earned her a spot in the legendary column for she's going to have one unbeatable winning streak after this week's easy win!
Legen...Wait For It...Dary's catch phrase after she beats Fresh Prince of Briere

Next up on our highlights is the former legend, St. Pappys return from the dead!  After falling in the standings from his losing streak he's now sitting pretty in a three way tie for first in the West, and I'm betting he might just take that lead position by the end of this week.  He's tied with Team Pastorella, who is in an unfavorable match against the Tyrant Legion of Doom, and Don't Toews Me Bro, who is suffering from some injuries on his team.  Meanwhile St. Pappys has a healthy team, and is facing off against 18 Wheeler who despite showing some glimmers of super-stardom is still struggling to keep up with the real monsters in the league.  It's starting to look like his falling in the standings wasn't as violent as previously indicated.
St. Pappys hits his low point ever so gently to only land on his feet
St. Pappys grabbed a hold of this win over Keep Calm and Bergeron one small nightly victory after another.  He led by small margins in many of the skating categories over Keep Calm and Bergeron, but absolutely blew it out when it came to his goalies.  He had 8 starts and 4 wins, but don't let that 500 record fool you... out of those 8 starts his goalies combined for just 11 goals against and very pretty .946 save percentage.  That only included 1 shutout which leads me to believe that there's nothing artificially bumping up those stats.  Now match that to Keep Calm and Bergeron's 6 starts with only 1 win and a save percentage of .906 which includes a shutout win.  It's clear how St. Pappys rolled over Keep Calm and Bergeron. Sometimes the old saying is true, the best offense is a good defense, so stand tall and let those brickwalls do their thing!
St. Pappy's passive defense takes out Keep Calm and Bergeron

Our final highlight isn't exactly a "highlight" but more of a reminder to all GM's.  It's simple, if you don't watch your roster and at least put your guys in for the week then you'll lose.  So to emphasize my point I want to bring up our old punching bag.... cough..um.... I mean.... friend Jesus Krejci, My Team Sucks!  He has failed to make any moves for the past few weeks and is currently truly living up to his team's name because of that.  If you take a look at his team you'll see some great talent, and hell some awesome averages for points too!  Sure it could use some sprucing up, but he should have a better record than 2 - 7.  This is the once highly praised hero who started St. Pappy's fall!  Now take his lack of roster moves and put a hungry tyrant at the other end,  Legion of Doom, and you've got yourself one brutal beating coming along.  That showed to be more than true as Legion of Doom took a 39.1 point lead at the end of DAY ONE!  It was so embarrassing for Jesus Krejci, My Team Sucks! that Jesus didn't even want his name on that team!
Jesus abandons Jesus Krejci, My Team Sucks!
It's alright though Jesus Krejci, My Team Sucks! we all forget to put some people in from time to time. Just know where your team is heading if you don't start making those moves!
Jesus Krejci, My Team Sucks! current path

Well GM's it was a blowout turkey week we had!  For those of you that found yourselves on the right side of score, congratulations!  For those that found themselves on the bad side of it... grab your plastic plate and go sit at the kids table this year!

Week 8 Summary

Week 8 brought the downfall of the FORMERLY undefeated Legion of Doom!  Fresh Prince of Briere stunned the tyrant, and the league, as he overpowered Legion of Doom to deliver his first loss of the season.
Fresh Prince of Briere Shocked to Beat Legion of Doom
St. Pappys snapped his losing streak by crushing Moulson ICE.  Team Burd continues to rebound from his early season skid by beating Keep Calm and Bergeron for his 2nd straight win.  Team Pastorella put an end to 18 Wheeler's win streak and is now tied with Don't Toews Me Bro for the lead in the west.  Jesus Krejci, My Team Sucks! (this sentence is self explanatory now) fell to Mötley Krüg.  Legen...Wait For It...Dary chews up and spits out Don't Toews Me Bro to become 2nd in the league and continues her win streak to 6.

After beating the league's number 1, Legion of Doom, Fresh Prince of Briere looks to take on the 2nd best team, Legen...Wait For It...Dary.  Can the titan killer pull it off again?  Don't Toews Me Bro will try and avoid being overtaken in the West by Team Pastorella as each of them face off against Eastern teams.

Everyone take a front row seat for Legion of Doom's first loss
Well GM's it's finally happened....

League Reaction to Seeing Legion of Doom trailing on Sunday Morning

the tyrant that has plagued the league and ran over almost all of the opposition has fallen.  (AND THE LEAGUE GOES WILD)

League Goes Wild Over Legion of Doom First Loss
The whole league can rejoice as the terror from the East plummets from his pedestal becoming humanized after a major loss to an unlikely hero! Legion of Doom has spent the last 7 weeks tormenting the league walking away 4 of 7 Victory Dance trophies (for scoring the most points in a given week) and giving out humiliating losses like their "fun size" candy on Halloween.  On the flip side Fresh Prince of Briere has only won 1 of his last 5 games prior to week 8.  We all knew that Legion of Doom's undefeated streak would end, but no one would have guessed it would be Fresh Prince of Briere!  Because of his awful record Fresh Prince of Briere was mocked for his "un-freshness" in the previous week.  There's no doubt that he doused himself in Febreze and popped some Mentos for this match though because he was fresher than peppermint!
Fresh Prince of Briere FRESHENS UP

In the beginning of the week it looked as if Legion of Doom was about to run away with another victory taking a 16.4 point lead going into Friday night, but then everything changed.  With a handful of games both teams rosters were nearly empty.  In steps Jonas Hiller to single handedly erase the lead of Legion of Doom with a monsterously 31 save shutout earning 16.2 points for the night!  With Legion of Doom's lead erased Fresh Prince of Briere's offense was free to start making a gap between the two.  By the end of the night Fresh Prince of Briere held a 7.8 point lead that Legion of Doom would fail to make up.  Lets rewind for a minute here... this match wasn't JUST won by an amazing outing by Jonas Hiller... it was also lost due to poor judgement on Legion of Doom's behalf!  On Tuesday Legion of Doom left Max Pacioretty on his bench in favor of
starting others.  This would prove to be a major mistake as Max Pacioretty went on to get a hatrick that night worth 16.1 points!  Is the Titan of the league losing his touch, lets all hope so!  Legion of Doom's own hot streak of a start to the season may have also played a role in his demise too.  Before Friday night's desperate attempt of picking up 5 players to make a comeback, Legion of Doom only made 2 roster moves during the week.  An uncharacteristically low for the tyrant.  Perhaps thinking he could poke fun and get away with an easy win plays into this as well... fortunately we have the turning point of the week on film for you all to judge for yourselves....
Legion of Doom (Left) vs. Fresh Prince of Briere (Right)
Legion of Doom will face Jesus Krejci, My Team Sucks! in hopes of a merciful win while he licks his wounds, and the titan killer, Fresh Prince of Briere will take on another giant, Legen...Wait For It...Dary who won all of her past 6 games!
Legion of Doom THOUGHT he could run through this league untouched... Fresh Prince of Briere to the rescue!

Now that we covered the potential beginning of a leader change in our league it's time to take a look at who could be Legion of Doom's replacement!  Going into week 8 we had Legen...Wait For It...Dary and Don't Toews Me Bro tied for 2nd place in the league and facing off to see who would be first in line for the inevitable fall of Legion of Doom.  In the first two days of the week Don't Toews Me Bro sprinted ahead and took a 29.2 point lead, but Legen...Wait For It...Dary came right back to erase that lead on Wednesday and Thursday.  Legen...Wait For It...Dary came out on top by 22.1 points only to be bested the very next day by Don't Toews Me Bro.  He caught back up with Legen...Wait For It...Dary and then took a small 0.5 point lead going into Sunday night.  With only 3 games playing Legen...Wait For It...Dary had just 1 goalie in her lineup while Don't Toews Me Bro started NO ONE.
Don't Toews Me Bro not starting anyone on Sunday night with only a 0.5 point lead
Needless to say Legen...Wait For It...Dary's lone goalie covered the 0.5 point spread leading her to a last minute heroic victory!  This loss not only knocked Don't Toews Me Bro out of 2nd place in the league but it also gave room for Team Pastorella to tie him for the lead in the West, and also finds himself in a 3 way tie for the league.  He's on a slippery slope right now and there are plenty of hungry teams waiting for him to fall another inch.  Legen...Wait For It...Dary now looks to stretch her winning streak to 7 against Fresh Prince of Briere while Don't Toews Me Bro looks to get back on track with a win against Moulson ICE this week.

Keep Calm And Bergeron
Finally, I think it's about time we talk about Keep Calm And Bergeron's loss to Team burd.  Keep Calm And Bergeron scored the lowest points this week earning him the We're All Laughing At You award.  After a comfy start to the season he's been on a serious decline winning just 1 of his last 6 games.  I've checked out his team and simply could not figure out why he hasn't been winning games... even with red hot Ovechkin on his team!  Well I've found the answer... he had 20 points sitting on his bench last week, some of which came from Mr. Ovechkin himself (you don't sit Ovi).  I'm not writing this to bash on Keep Calm And Bergeron, I'm writing this because I think his team is a sleeping beast and I want to see it woken up!  This week he's facing off against St. Pappys who is making a resurgence after a series of hard losses.  This could be the poke that the beast needs to jump start him back into the standings.  If I were St. Pappys I would tread lightly this week!

GM's it's been another great week, and I hope you all finished up celebrating Legion of Doom's loss in time to start this week strong!  Enjoy the turkey out there!

Week 7 Summary

Week 7 wraps up and we're left with Legion of Doom continuing his undefeated streak after beating the league's 2nd best team, Don't Toews Me Bro by 55 points in a good ol'fashion woopin!  It's starting to look like Legion of Doom may actually be unbeatable (cue evil laugh)...
Legion of Doom THE TYRANT!
18 Wheeler starts a ...GASP... winning streak after beating Jesus Krejci, My Team Sucks! by an astonishing 83.2 points.  That's a monstrous 2nd win to help him to tie for last place in the East with Moulson ICE who was delivered a loss by Team burd who snatched the win from Moulson ICE by a mere 3.1 points.  Team Pastorella took out Keep Calm And Bergeron to leap-frog over St. Pappys for 2nd place in the West.  Mötley Krüg kept Fresh Prince of Briere at bay proving that his Freshness doesn't last forever.  Finally, Legen...Wait For It...Dary extends her win streak to 5, and is now tied for 2nd place in the league, by handing St. Pappys his 3rd straight loss!

This week we have two big matches to keep our eyes on.  Legion of Doom looks to extend his undefeated tyranny over our league against Fresh Prince of Briere.... lets all hope he bought some Febreze to freshen up before this match!  We will have a 2nd place tie breaker match this week as Legen...Wait For It...Dary tries to extend her win streak to 6 over the lead in the West Don't Toews Me Bro.

On to the highlights!

We have to start this off with the underdog blowout win of 18 Wheeler over Jesus Krejci, My Team Sucks! by 83.2 points!  First off, this earned 18 Wheeler the Adding Insult AND Injury award for winning by the largest margin thus far in the season.  That's two monster victories in a row for this formerly win-less team.  Like I said last week, 18 Wheeler came to play, and you know what he opened a big ol'can of whoop ass too!  There was no single day and no single category that 18 Wheeler lost or even tied with Jesus Krejci, My Team Sucks!  This was perhaps the definition of an "ass whooping".  18 Wheeler has clearly grown tired of having that "win-less label" slapped on his team and figured a remedy of opening a can of whoop ass would be just what the doctor ordered!  Only this was no simple ordinary can of whoop ass!  It was the Fat Boy atomic bomb of whoop ass cans!  I imagine Monday morning just as the first puck dropped, 18 Wheeler reached for his can a'la whoop ass and....
18 Wheeler's Atomic Can a'la Whoop Ass!
Jesus Krejci, My Team Sucks! clearly got vaporized once the whoop ass hit him because he didn't make a single move all week!  Now 18 Wheeler is in a 2 way tie for last place in the East, and a 4 way tie for last place in the league... and right now he's looking for that other can of whoop ass... I think it's labeled "Little Boy" (know your atomic bomb history!).  With Team Pastorella in 18 Wheeler's sights this week it's looking like he'll need to open that can up!

After losing 2 games in a row the whole league had to question if the reign of the feared, St. Pappys, may have come to a close this season.  Legen...Wait For It...Dary pitted herself against the legendary team last week to see if this rumor was true.  For the first 4 days St. Pappys extended his lead over Legen...Wait For It...Dary by bits and pieces.  On the 5th day Legen...Wait For It...Dary took some of that ground back and the two went neck and neck every night until the 7th day.  St. Pappys had a small 5.3 point lead but Legen...Wait For It...Dary had almost a full roster ready!  As St. Pappys got two wins from his goalies it looked like an impossibly steep climb for Legen...Wait For It...Dary, but in came Braden Holtby and Patrick Sharp to save the day!  Holtby put up 13.2 point night making 46 of 47 saves while Sharp netted 2 goals and capped off the night with an assist worth 9.4 points.  Legen...Wait For It...Dary would go on that night to barely pull ahead of St. Pappys by the slim margin of 3.4 points.  Leaving St. Pappys in sheer disbelief while he froze up unable to produce words or even sounds to express this loss!
St. Pappys stunned by 3rd straight loss
It's difficult to express defeat after being so dominant in the past seasons.  Just ask the any Russian who recalls the date of February 22nd, 1980.  Sometimes words just don't come to mind quick enough when in that stunned state.  Thankfully in today's world we can express ourselves through other means.  That defeated feeling I'm referring to is a lot like a belly-flop times... 1,000!  You soar so high that falling to the ground seems like an impossible event.  Being in that heat of the moment daze from your seemingly endless wins puts your mind at ease so that you don't notice the ground getting closer at an alarming rate.
St. Pappys fall from his legendary role
Ahhh. who would have though that the winds, fueled by your wins, would turn against you and drive you face first into the ground monster belly-flop style!  I imagine St. Pappys realized what was about to happen in the final hours of Sunday as he saw Legen...Wait For It...Dary's score just barely eclipse his own... and that's when he knew.... this is about to hurt....
St. Pappys realizing how far he's fallen
Legen...Wait For It...Dary was actually speechless too after her last minute victory over St. Pappys, but she knew how to celebrate still!
Legen...Wait For It...Dary fist pumps after her victory

Now that one legendary dynasty is in the midst of falling another is rising into it's place.  Legion of Doom is quickly becoming a hated force from the East.  He stretched his undefeated streak to 7 after bring down the hammer on Don't Toews Me Bro, who was 2nd in the league at the time.
Legion of Doom bringing down the Hammer!
Once again Legion of Doom exhibited sheer domination beating Don't Toews Me Bro by 55 points and taking home the Victory Dance awarded weekly award for scoring the most total points in the week.  As a matter in fact his goalies ALONE scored as many points as 33% of last week's teams.  Legion of Doom has been simply rolling over the league.  He hasn't played 4 teams in the league yet, but it's looking like he may go undefeated in his first match against each team.  He now has to defend his undefeated title against the arguably easier team, Fresh Prince of Briere.

Who do you think will eventually bring down the tyrant rule of Legion of Doom?

Thank you for another great week GM's!

Week 6 Summary

We've had some major developments during week 6!  First off the results of the poll are in and the majority of you wanted us to increase skater stats.  We've added in 3 new categories to do so.  We all get points for shots on goal, hits, and blocked shots.  Each of these new categories is worth 0.1 points per occurrence.  It turns out that adding in these categories has changed past game totals, but as far as I can tell no one's win / loss record has changed.  If you notice a change in your win / loss and we will do our best to remedy this.

Now on to the summary.  Legion of Doom keeps his undefeated title for one more week after beating St. Pappys senseless with the season's highest score yet of 168.4.  Legen...Wait For It...Dary continues her win streak to 4 in a row after narrowly beating Team Burd.  Moulson ICE pulls a win against Team Pastorella finally breaking his losing streak.  Jesus Krejci, My Team Sucks! gets a big win against Keep Calm And Bergeron proving that he can play with the best of the league!  18 Wheeler finally starts to claw his way out of a win-less start to the season by beating Fresh Prince of Briere.  Don't Toews Me Bro took down Mötley Krüg extending his win streak to 4 and keeping his numer 1 title in the West.

This week we have an epic match between our first place, the undefeated Legion of Doom, and second place in the league Don't Toews Me Bro!  This could be the end of the undefeated streak!

Fresh Prince of Briere not looking so "Fresh" after that loss!
I have to start this week's highlights off with the shocking win from 18 Wheeler!  For those of you that don't check the standings, this is his first win of the season!  He's got a monster of a hole to climb out of still, but he just took the first step, and that step landed right on Fresh Prince of Briere's face...HARD!  As with most people that find themselves matched against 18 Wheeler Fresh Prince of Briere must have though this will be an easy win.... practically a bye week, and things started off just like that!  Day 1 Fresh Prince of Briere took a nice lead and put the team on cruise control for the remainder of the week.  18 Wheeler took a clear advantage of this oversight.  He went on to outscore Fresh Prince of Briere every night after day 1!  Some might call this luck, but I know 18 Wheeler and he's one hell of a poker player.  If he knows one thing it's how to lore you in to an un-win-able situation.  No reason to show everyone that you have a winning hand by betting large in the first round... that's no way to play the game!  And Fresh Prince of Briere took the bait.  Next thing Fresh (maybe "Fresh" isn't the right descriptive for you any more) Prince of Briere logged in on Monday morning expecting his record to improve, but instead found a large "L".  I suggest Fresh Prince of Briere change his name to Saad Prince of Hiller after this one!
18 Wheeler had him just where he wanted.

Mötley Krüg's gonna hate
If you ever wanted to see what last minute heroics look like just visit Don't Toews Me Bro!  Heading into Sunday night of last week Don't Toews Me Bro was desperately trying to just keep up with Mötley Krüg.  The score was 77.5 for Mötley Krüg and 60.4 for Don't Toews Me Bro.  It was do or die time and looking at a 17 point spread this seemed hopeless, but all Don't Toews Me Bro could do is fill up the roster slots and pray for the best.  Turns out that praying for a little miracle worked! Mötley Krüg, for the first time the entire week, forgot to put in two starting goalies and two players on Sunday, and with those points sitting on the bench she could have won!  Don't Toews Me Bro lit up the night with 31.1 points winning by a perfect 10 points over Mötley Krüg (who had 12.3 points sitting on her bench).  There's little doubt that Mötley Krüg must hate Don't Toews Me Bro and herself for this slip up!

Finally, we have to highlight St. Pappys 2nd straight loss and Legion of Doom's 6th straight win!  The undefeated Legion of Doom looked to be struggling in the previous week against Mötley Krüg, but when facing St. Pappys he just threw his foot on the gas and never looked back.  There was no single category that St Pappys was able to beat Legion of Doom in.  This wasn't to say that the match-up one sided at all.  Both teams put up the top and second most points for the week, and what looked like a blowout for Legion of Doom was actually small victories day in and day out during the week all stacked up for a league leading 168.4 points in one single week.  The big question is how long can Legion of Doom keep his undefeated streak, and how long will St. Pappys stay in his slump.  Both will come to an end eventually, but the anger that St. Pappys must have felt to put up a monster score only to still be beaten must be indescribable.... but that's why we have pictures!
St. Pappys putting up a monster score of 123 and still losing.

For anyone that hasn't heard Team Pastorella lost Stamkos due to his broken tibia (your shin bone... cringe....) which was suffered last night (11/11) against the Bruins.  Stamkos is out indefinitely which leaves Team Pastorella without the leagues highest goal scorer.  It's safe to say he has a big void and will surely be looking to fill it soon... commence the trade offers! For anyone that wishes to see the injury visit this link (it's not particularly gruesome, but I don't recommend viewing it if you have a weak stomach.) Stamkos injury GIF
Team Pastorella reaction to Stamkos injury

GM's we wrap up week 6 with 1 astonishing record broken... the win-less 18 Wheeler joins us in week 7 a new man.  Now who will take the only astonishing record left, the undefeated Legion of Doom is due for a loss... but who will deliver it?

Week 5 Summary

After our week 5 matches we now have a number 1 team in the West!  Don't Toews Me Bro wiped the floor with St. Pappys in the 2nd half of the week to take that honor.  Legion of Doom barely made it out with his undefeated streak in tact against Mötley Krüg.  Legen...Wait For It...Dary gets her 3rd straight win against the eternally struggling 18 Wheeler who is still win less this season.  Keep Calm And Bergeron slammed Moulson ICE by 63.7 points!  Fresh Prince of Briere smacked around the still injured Team Burd for a win.  Team Pastorella comes out of week 5 with one more win after barely beating Jesus Krejci, My Team Sucks!

This week Legion of Doom will defend his undefeated streak against  his dad, St. Pappys, who is looking to bounce back from last week's loss.  Don't Toews Me Bro will take on the 2nd place Mötley Krüg from the East to try and stay a game ahead of St. Pappys.

Sometimes you just land on your feet, right Legion of Doom?
We had some amazing close calls and failed last minute heroics from last week!  I will kick off the highlights with our undefeated Legion of Doom making a BIG comeback to take down Mötley Krüg.  3 days into this match and Legion of Doom found himself literally up shit's creek without a paddle.  He lost all three days and was looking at a monstrous deficit of 33 points, but just as he started to freak out there was a glimmer of hope!
It took him only till Friday to erase that deficit and then hold on for dear life till the end of the week!  Legion of Doom made some key line additions along the tail end of the week to help pull another win.  All in all it was his play-makers that pulled him ahead.  His 25 assists were more than enough to wipe out the fact that he nearly lost in every other category for the week .  Sometimes it doesn't matter that you started out in the worst possible way you just have to make sure you stick the landing!

Moulson ICE never saw Keep Calm's point wave coming
Now lets talk about Moulson ICE.  He's been swimming around the bottom of the barrel all season.  He's only grabbed 1 win and that was against the win less team of 18 Wheeler.  Now lets look at Keep Calm And Bergeron.  He has a solid team and only lost to the undefeated Legion of Doom and the 2nd place Mötley Krüg, who he is now tied with.  Anyone would predict that this match up between the bottom feeder and one of the elites wouldn't go so well for Moulson ICE, and it sure didn't!  Keep Calm and Bergeron threw heat at Moulson ICE every day last week amassing triple digit point totals.  Moulson ICE spent over 70% of last week not even able to get one day with a double digit score!  I've been saving this picture for a specific moment and boy this Moulson ICE's performance just is perfect for it!  For getting utterly dominated last week here's yours summary picture Moulson...

That first few days Moulson may have thought he could come back and put up a good fight... but good Lord he had no clue what kind of beast Keep Calm and Bergeron was!  You got wiped out there buddy!  It may be time to move that chair back a little further inland and reassess that team of your!

18 Wheeler.... every week
Following in this wake of failure we must mention the league punching bag, 18 Wheeler.  He looked as if he may pull out a win against the hot streak Legen...Wait For It...Dary as they traded the lead up until Friday night.  That night Legen...Wait For It...Dary outscored 18 Wheeler by 30 points effectively erasing his hopes of any win last week.  If anyone takes a look at his team it becomes immediately obvious what the problem is.  The Philadelphia Flyers.  18 Wheeler owns 5 of them, and they are struggling in the start of this season.  His +/- is -28 and -20 of those come from the 5 Flyers he has.  It may be time to start cutting a couple of those clowns if you want to get on the scoreboard around here!  Fortunately I was able to capture 18 Wheeler's frustration before we dropped this hint for him!

Finally to wrap up this summary I want to followup on me remarks from last week about the match between St. Pappys (Ronald Regan) and Don't Toews Me Bro (Berlin Wall) for the lead in the West!  I really hope everyone knows enough history to get these two references.... St. Pappys was actually successful in "tearing down that wall".  Don't Toews Me Bro was outscored in goaltending by 15 points!  Winning this battle should be easy seeing as Don't Toews Me Bro has built all of his wins off of his goalies.  So what the hell went wrong?
St Pappys bring down the wall... but still loses!
The biggest problem for St. Pappys was that behind the wall he just tore down was a shit ton of offense.  Regan had an entire army backing him up... St. Pappys only had a team that failed to show up all week.  Don't Toews Me Bro won EVERY skater category but 1... penalty minutes... It turns out that Don't Toews Me Bro doesn't need a wall at all!

Now to be clear... St. Pappys team did show up for the first two nights.  St. Pappys grabbed onto his 20 point lead like a kid getting a gift from Santa Clause himself and just ran with it!  Problem was that the Grinch (Don't Toews Me Bro) parked his cart filled with heavy luggage in aisle 8, and that fake mall Santa gift was just a ruse for St. Pappys!

St. Pappys... Meet Don't Toews Me Bro
So Christmas isn't coming early for you St. Pappys... no big deal, you'll grind it out for this win... well that wasn't entirely true either!  As the tides turned against you in the middle of the week you tried to resort to drastic measures... fill up your team and watch them overwhelm your opponent!  It's full proof... unless they don't show up!  St. Pappys rolled out a full roster on Saturday as a last ditch effort to come out guns blazing and steal this victory, and all that high powered offense mustered up a grand total of.... 0.1 points!  You read that correctly... a full roster of skaters adding up to zero point one points!  Now in my head I pictured Saturday night to look something like this....

St. Pappys is in the bar with Don't Toews Me Bro watching the games... hell it's all just a friendly fantasy league right?
St. Pappys on the left and Don't Toews Me Bro on the right
Losing is never easy... especially in the high stakes battle for the lead in the West, but St. Pappys.. you didn't come out on top for this one.  Now St, Pappys will face the undefeated team of the East in attempts to recreate his glory days from past seasons!

With week 5 behind us I ask all of you to please vote in our new pole.  The results of this will effect our scoring going forward.  The poll is at this link (http://games.espn.go.com/fhl/leagueoffice?leagueId=5415&seasonId=2014) on the right side of the page.  The poll explains everything, but essentially we are looking to even out the field between skaters and goalies.  Currently goalies are weighed rather heavy in our points categories which makes it difficult to trade for one.  Both LM's (myself included) talked about this and have left it up to you all as GM's to vote on the actions going forward.  This poll will close on November 10th at midnight and the results of it will be carried forth to the following week.  If you have any questions or concerns about this please let us know!

Thanks for another amazing week GM's!
