Week 4 Summary

We close week 4 with 1 undefeated team remaining and a tight race in the West for the lead.  Legion of Doom took down 18 Wheeler hard to keep his undefeated streak alive for another week.  Mötley Krüg showed who wears the pants in the relationship by taking down her fiance, Keep Calm And Bergeron with a health margin! Legen...Wait For It...Dary hits her stride defeating Moulson ICE to get her first winning streak of the season.  St. Pappys comes roaring back from his loss last week, and in a blood-lust rage he brutally beat Fresh Prince of Briere by 59 points!
St. Pappys Is Blind With Rage Again!
Don't Toews Me Bro stayed tied with St. Pappys for the lead in the West by taking the hammer to our hero from last week, Jesus Krejci, My Team Sucks! beating him by a season high margin of 71.6 points.... yeah, reality sets in hard sometimes (right Jesus Krejci, My Team Sucks!?).  Finally Team Pastorella takes advantage of the injury plagued Team burd for an easy win.

St. Pappys vs, Don't Toews Me Bro
This week we have a highlight match-up between St. Pappys and Don't Toews Me Bro.  They are currently tied for 1st in the West and as you all should know....(see image for throw back goodness)

Now for the highlights from the week:

First up we have last week's hero, Jesus Krejci, My Team Sucks! suffering a devastating loss to   Don't Toews Me Bro, who is competing for the 1st place spot in the West this week against St. Pappys.  Before I get into this giant loss for Jesus Krejci My Team Sucks! I just want to point out that we have not gone even 1 week without mentioning Jesus Krejci My Team Sucks!.  Even though his team may in fact "suck" he's got the leagues attention every week....
Jesus Krejci My Team Sucks! reaction to being in all of our weekly write ups!
However, he's been in the headlines as, mostly, a laughing point at how much his team DOES in fact... "suck".
Jesus Krejci's realizing he's in the write up because he lost
There are many reason Jesus Krejci finds himself at the bottom of our league, but when looking at his team it almost comes as a shocker that he's not at least half decent, but don't get too sad Jesus Krejci.  Your loss was to a really good team, and in fact that team is tied for the lead in the West.  He's had a rather relaxed schedule and only suffered one loss in a tight match against the wildcard Fresh Prince of Briere.  His team has been lead by his amazing goalie picks of Niemi and Varlamov who both kicked off the year undefeated for a while!  He's also 2nd in the league for total points, behind the undefeated Legion of Doom, and that's with only 2 moves all season.  Don't Toews Me Bro has been looking like a drafting genius this season!  Now he's looking to take on the legendary St. Pappys.  Everyone dreads the week they face the strength of St. Pappys entire roster, but Don't Toews Me Bro has a trick up his sleeve... a brick wall of goaltending!  So as St. Pappys does his best impersonation of Ronald Regan's famous... "Tear this wall down" speech will you all be hoping it stands up to might Regan, or will you be hoping for something more along the lines of this...
St. Pappys is Regan and the wall is Don't Toews Me Bro

Our final highlight goes to the couples match between Mötley Krüg and Keep Calm And Bergeron.  Both are coming off of losses to the other league couple, Legion of Doom and Legen... Wait For It... Dary, and are looking o assign some blame!  Before the match they did what any couple would do in a competitive situation... exchange insults!
Mötley Krüg's insult to Keep Calm And Bergeron

Keep Calm And Bergeron comeback
Ahh, the finer points of being in a relationship!  Battling for pure bragging rights are some of the unforgettable moments couples have in life.  However, if you plan on exchanging insults maybe be sure that you can back them up... Mötley Krüg knew she could, Keep Calm and Bergeron, not so much. Mötley Krüg took the lead on day 2 by a healthy margin and just never let Keep Calm And Bergeron claw his way back.  We can only imagine what threats Mötley Krüg called upon Keep Calm, but all we know is that they were than enough to hold him at bay to give her the win!
Keep Calm And Bergeron realizing Mötley Krüg's wrath
Mötley Krüg now sits at 2nd place in the East and is looking to drop the undefeated Legion of Doom down a peg in Week 5!

This is a major week for us GM's!  We will either have a definitive leader in the East or another tie for 1st.  We'll also finally see a clear leader arise from the West as 1st and 2nd place teams face off in each division!  Who are you voting for?

Week 3 Summary

Another great week for the books GM's!  Sorry for this late and shortened post, but I'm closing our books for Q3 at work.  We now only have one undefeated team, Legion of Doom, whom I think has a giant target on his back now.  He flew by Keep Calm and Bergeron to keep his undefeated streak alive for at least one more week.  Moulson ICE threw another loss towards 18 Wheeler to continue his perfect losing streak!  Legen...Wait For It...Dary snaps her win less streak to deal Mötley Krüg her first loss of the season.  Jesus Krejci, My Team Sucks! takes down the dynasty that is St. Pappys in a heated battle for the ages!  Team Pastorella gets an easy win in the father-son match-up against Fresh Prince of Briere.  Don't Toews Me Bro throws some heat late in the match-up against Team burd for his first win of the season.

Now for some highlights!

First, the headline of the week goes to Jesus Krejci, My Team Sucks! for bringing down the titan, the defending champion, the terror from the West, the league's arch nemesis, the dynasty known as St. Pappys!  Thankfully we captured the leagues reaction to this momentous occasion...
League Reaction to St. Pappys First Defeat
Even St. Pappys was applauding Jesus Krejci, My Team Sucks! for his groundbreaking win in this nail biter of a match....
St. Pappys Reaction To His Loss
What great sportsmanship from the defending champion!  We were also able to catch his reaction on Friday night after seeing his 6 players incapable of making up the deficit Jesus Krejci put between them...
St. Pappy's Friday Night Reaction
Now it occurs to me that we have some new comers to our league that may need some explanations to fully capture what this moment meant for all of us.  Since starting a fantasy hockey league 5 seasons ago St. Pappys has won our championship 3 out of 5 times, and the other 2 he lost in the finals for a major upset.  He's notorious for leading the West in just about ever category!  We have even changed league rules multiple times between seasons to try and level the playing field for us all, but day in and day out St. Pappys steam rolls through our league and snatches Lord Stanley from all of our grips.  He's just that damn good, but every now and then he's brought back down to earth by an unlikely hero, and this times our hero's name is.... Jesus Krejci, My Team Sucks But Yours Is S-Oshie-t!  Our hero came Streit Outta Compton! Stepan up to his Edler that is, St. Pappys, to hit him with his Kane right in the Kunitz, and erick-SSON of a B-wiercIo-T-CH it worked!  Jesus Krejci.... it worked!  (it's a lot harder than you think to try and come up with a positive way to use team member's names for this!!!!).  Anyhow, Jesus Krejci must have mentioned the right guy in his team name because he won this match with last minute heroics rallying since Tuesday for this tight victory that sent St. Pappys Chiasson his tail picking up scrubs to make up the deficit on Friday!  (hint there... Chiasson was a -5 TOTAL for St. Pappys this week).  Be prepared Jesus Krejci.... St. Pappys now has an enemy in you!
St. Pappys Looking at Their Re-match (Week of Dec. 30th)

Now our second highlight ropes in two match-ups.  First, a win by the undefeated Legion of Doom against Keep Calm and Bergeron.  Second, a win for Legen...Wait For It... Dary against Mötley Krüg!  I'll need to explain here... My team is Legion of Doom and Legen... Wait For It... Dary is my wife.  Keep Calm and Bergeron is one of my best friends, and former high school roommate, and Mötley Krüg is his soon to be wife!  So this week we had a two way match-up to rule the couples world of our league!
Legion of Doom and Legen... Wait For It... Dary both took the lead on day 1 and simply never looked back!
(Don't worry Edina... I'm the Dog in this picture! haha)
In an awesome week of domination Legion of Doom and Legen... Wait For It... Dary snapped both Keep Calm and Bergeron and Mötley Krüg undefeated streaks!  Finally in Legion....Wat For It... Dary fashion, the mightiest of high-fives sealed the victories in the couples bout!
Legion of Doom and Legen... Wait For It... Dary Mightiest High-Five
Look for the couples rematch the week of Dec. 30th (apparently that week will be filled with EPIC rematches!)

Amazing week GM's!

Week 2 Summary

St. Pappys had this amazing pick
After Hertl went between he legs Vanek did from St. Pappys team as well!
How about those hatricks last week?  Sadly there's likely only one of us here who really knows the feeling of getting a hatrick, and that's St. Pappys, who collected his 2nd win!  This guy has 3 hatricks and that's just in 2 weeks of play!  He's certainly living up to his "St." (saint) name because he's made.  some dynamite picks to rack up those stats this early on.  Now comes the scary part.... that's not even where he's blowing away the competition!  He had a mind numbing 23 assists last week as well!  Add in his 14 goals and the fact that he played a total of 36 games last week and he's averaging a little over a point per player per game!  So far his only vulnerability comes in the form of his goalies, and they are the reason his match-up with Team Pastorella was even remotely close.  Team Pastorella had a hot streak with his goalies and it kept him alive all week.  Then Stamkos scored him a hatrick to keep St. Pappys on his heels, but it just wasn't enough to overcome the force that is... St. Pappys!

Fresh Prince of Briere moves to 2-0 proving that you can knock out opponents without dropping and picking up players.  To be fair both teams never dropped or picked up anyone, but they went blow for blow all week long until the final two days when Fresh Prince of Briere had a big comeback scoring 16+ points over Don't Toews Me Bro.

Streit's reaction Saturday morning after seeing the score.
Team Burd took clear advantage of Stepan Into Last Place... wait that's not right... Oshie-t I'm in Last Place... wait... still not it... My Record Smells Like Turr-d-is.... damn still wrong...... ahh here it is... Streit Outta Compton!  For anyone that doesn't get those jokes.... he has Derek Stepan, T.J. Oshie, Kyle Turris, and Mark Streit all on his team.  I can already tell that Streit Outta Compton! will be one of my favorite teams in these write-ups this season!  Anyhow Team Burd patiently dangled a carrot called hope in front of Streit's face all week, and why not... everyone
Streit's likely words to Dubnyk... or me... or Team Burd
needs that glimmer of hope to get through the work week... but come Friday night Team Burd took that
Streit after drafting Dubnyk
carrot of hope away and replaced it with Turr-d-is.  He blew Streit out of the water by 33+ points with ease in one night!  Again, Streit Outta Compton was left with nothing but questions... why?....how?... what the F*CK?  Well Streit.... I have the answer to all these questions for you.... Why -- because you drafted Devan Dubnyk!  How -- his stunningly aw-inspiring stats of .829 SV% and 5.43 GAA!  What the F*CK -- well I can't say I didn't tell you so... you should have read my draft recap!  But then again, in every league there has to be that one person that loses... but don't worry we're all routing for you, just not to win...

Mötley Krüg was miraculusly lifted past 18 Wheeler on the final day of their match-up largely in part to a goal and assist from Shane Doan that night, but the true magic happened on Friday night when she made a huge comeback to erase a big deficit!  This kept her in the running for the lead in the East while ensuring 18 Wheeler continues to struggle at the bottom of the barrel.

Keep Calm And Bergeron flips the tables on Legen...Wait For It...Dary on Friday night and erased what small lead Legen had over him.  He continuously put distance between them every night after that despite playing 7 less games than her.  With this win he keeps his name in the running for the lead of the East and looks to break the three-way tie by at lest 1 next week against Legion of Doom.

Legion of Doom won a tight match against Moulson ICE on Saturday night.  Up until then they traded the lead a few times until Legion's offense kicked in 41+ points on Saturday night, lead by some great goal-tending! However, Legion of Doom had to play 16 more games than Moulson to achieve this.

Good luck racing towards the top of your divisions GM's!

Week 1 Summary

Ahh, a new season GM's!  It's with great pleasure that I bring this first Sudden Death 3.0 summary via our new website.   Before I get into the summary I just want to let you all know that we have a little rule change that went into effect  on Sunday.  We have eliminated the game cap per player category as it seemed redundant.  Because we are keeping the weekly transaction limit it should effectively allow all teams to have an even chance of maxing out how many games they play per week without that rule.

Now.... onto the write-ups!

If I could sum up last weeks performances I would have to start with... HOLY GOALIE!? Yeah, I know... cheesy, but in all honesty out of 12 start players (one per team) 9 of those stars were goalies... that's 75%!  That can mean one of two things, either we: 1) had some amazing shutouts last week, or 2) we may have weighed the points category in favor of goalies just a bit too much.  If it's the 2nd option... maybe think about getting another goalie!

Speaking of goalies... Streit Outta Compton found himself a new name, "Stepan Into Last Place", after losing to Fresh Prince of Briere who refused to make a move the whole week.  Hopefully he will be able to "Dubnyk" the mystery of the black hole that sucked away all his points.... HINT.... it's real, and it was chosen as the single worst draft pick in this league (read last weeks draft recap post).... I'm dropping some serious hints for you there Striet!
Don't Toews Me Bro lights up offense and defense to crush Team Pastorella.  Don't Toews Me Bro his, near flawless, goalies who combined for 157 shots on goal and only 9 goals against!  Combine that with his 16 assists in 30 games and you have one terrifying team to go up against.  It's no surprise that he was awarded the Victory Dance trophy for most points scored this week during his smack-down'athon on Team Pastorella!
The league wide arch nemesis, St. Pappys, looks like he's in mid-season form as he trucked over Team Burd with ease.  He can thank Radim Vrbata for that big hatrick... not that he needed it to beat Team Burd though.
Keep Calm and Bergeron, the scoring machine, easily sprinted past 18 Wheeler by a huge margin.  Hopefully teaching 18 Wheeler the valuable lesson to not have 33% of your fantasy team comprised of one NHL team... especially when it's the Flyers!  That 33% dragged 18 Wheeler down big time!
Mötley Krüg nearly shat themselves after taking a commanding lead in the first half of the week only to watch it disappear to within 5 points.  A loss from the inactive Moulson ICE would be too painful... just ask Streit!
Legion-d'Emery of Doom looked like he had a loss coming at the hands of Legen...Wait For It...Dary in a battle of attempting team nicknames with "legendary" in it.  He had a surge of 30+ points on Saturday and was lead by Rask who bailed him for a monsterous win that was actually a lot closer than the score looks!

Now come the GIF highlights... Those of you that remember the write-ups from last season know I pick a few teams to highlight here... those of you that don't know, you'll catch on quick.

Streit... you knew this was coming... well to be fair Streit's outlook was bright, he had some solid picks in the draft and assembled a great squad... the out look was soo bright... BUT once we that bright light dimmed we finally saw that it wasn't his all-star's shining... it was the goal lamp siting behind Dubnyk... 10 times!!!  Streit made, what I called, the single worst pick of the entire draft with Devin Dubynk, and it drug him down with some wonderfully negative points!  Now, Streit, I only do this for your own good... if labeling Dubnyk as the worst draft pick wasn't a big enough hint for you to drop him and his 6.53 goals against average didn't convince you either, then I assmebled some highlights to help make it a bit more clear.... and if this causes flashbacks of your loss to the "No Show Prince of Briere", I apologize.
Dubnyk at his finest
Dubynk, long-range WIN

Dubnyk waving goodbye.... hopefully to Streit's team after this!
Don't Toews Me Bro lit up the league last week for more points than any other team.  Whenever you can accomplish that and have such a spread of points that it makes your whole team look like all-stars then you can count on getting some love in the highlights!  Believe it or not, finding the right images for this was not easy... what could possibly visually represent how hard Don't Toews Me Bro took down the whole league.... well for starters.... you have some serious talent!

Take that league!
Talent + Style = WIN

Great start to week 1 GM's!

Draft Recap and Analysis

We've closed another successful draft for Sudden Death!  We had 17 rounds to fill out our 2 Centers, 2 Left Wings, 2 Right Wings, 2 D-Men, 2 Goalies, 2 Utilities, and 5 Bench slots.  That's a lengthy roster for 12 teams, but hopefully it gives everyone a handful of all-stars, a group of elite players, and some wiggle room for day-to-day pick-up / drops.  Just enough to make any team lethal in our league!  Now that our draft is over I'm going to give a quick recap of the first 10 roundd followed up by my Best and Worst picks of each of them!  Feel free to join in by commenting below as well!

Before I get into the recap I just want to once again let everyone know that; now that the draft is over we are increasing the maximum allowed goalies from 2 to 3 per team.  Do not be confused... this will not increase the total number of players on your team, it will only allow each team to have an extra goalie if they choose to.  We wanted to force everyone to have only 2 slots during the draft so that everyone gets a fair number of starters, and those that want 3 can now choose from the leftovers which are majority time-share goalies.

Now on to the recap!

For those of you that attended... you must have realized that the top two picks were no shows and thus auto picked.... this was my immediate reaction...

First Round Draft Problems
First Round:
1Steven Stamkos, TB CTeam Pastorella
2Sidney Crosby, Pit CFresh Prince of Briere
3Alex Ovechkin, Wsh RWKeep Calm And Bergeron
4Evgeni Malkin, Pit CIce Queen
5John Tavares, NYI CTeam burd
6Henrik Lundqvist, NYR GStreit Outta Compton!
7Erik Karlsson, Ott D18 Wheeler
8Corey Perry, Ana RWVanek at the Disco
9Phil Kessel, Tor RWSt. Pappys
10Claude Giroux, Phi CThe Big O
11Kris Letang*, Pit DMoulson ICE
12Patrick Kane, Chi RW  Legion-d'Emery of Doom

Best Pick: Sidney Crosby, simply put this guy is a beast.  He is on another level and likely only joined by Ovechkin.  However, he needs to have a full healthy season to realize that potential.  In the previous years owners of Crosby could clearly see his over 1 point per game average single handedly crushing their competition, but he spends a lot of time on the IR list.  If he gets a full season in, he will lead Fresh Prince of Brier to the finals without a doubt!
Worst Pick: Kris Letang, Don't get me wrong... he's an all-star D-man... but our league focuses a lot on goals and offense this year.  Not to mention that rumors of a knee injury started on our draft day.  Now he is listed as IR.  The guy is an all-star... but just not 1st round draft potential in my book.

Second Round:
Best Pick: Daniel Sedin, he may have had a slump last year when his goals dipped down to just 1 over his assist machine of a brother Henrik, but he's a winger that could easily jump into the top 5 if he can find the chemistry he had with Burrows and Henrik in 2011 - 2012 season.
Worst Pick: Pekka Rinne, he was easily one of the big disappointments last season, and he's coming off of hip surgery which doesn't invoke confidence either.  Sure he will get some defensive help from Nashville's drafting of top D-man prospect, Seth Jones, but he's a rookie and unproven thus far.  Rinne could end the season in the top 5 goalie rankings forcing me to eat these words, but right now I'd save this pick for 3rd or 4th round.

Third Round:
25Dustin Byfuglien, Wpg DTeam Pastorella
26Eric Staal, Car CFresh Prince of Briere
27Tyler Seguin, Dal CKeep Calm And Bergeron
28Rick Nash, NYR LWIce Queen
29Ryan Suter, Min DTeam burd
30Chris Kunitz, Pit LWStreit Outta Compton!
31Jonathan Quick, LA G18 Wheeler
32Shea Weber, Nsh DVanek at the Disco
33Logan Couture, SJ CSt. Pappys
34Roberto Luongo, Van GThe Big O
35Sergei Bobrovsky, Cls GMoulson ICE
36Martin St. Louis, TB RW  Legion-d'Emery of Doom
Best Pick: Chris Kuntiz, this was a tough one.  I wouldn't say he's the star out of this group, but I believe he's the safest bet out of them!  He will flank Crosby on even strength which will bring plenty of points, but he also flanks Malkin on the powerplay!  That means he'll be producing points galore, and in the event of Crosby falling to injury, again, he'll have Malkin to fall back on.  He's the best option because he's the safest of all these picks.
Worst Pick: Jonathan Quick, I know I'll likely catch some flak for this one, but hear me out.  Quick has a knack for performing under the heavy pressures of the playoffs very well!  Come crunch time he's likely your best bet, but during the regular season he seems to lack that drive.  And unfortunately our league ends just as the playoffs start... Like Rinne, I may eat these words later, but I think he's worst pick in this round.

Fourth Round:
37Zach Parise, Min LW  Legion-d'Emery of Doom
38Ryan Getzlaf, Ana CMoulson ICE
39Carey Price, Mon GThe Big O
40Corey Crawford, Chi GSt. Pappys
41Nicklas Backstrom, Wsh CVanek at the Disco
42Marian Hossa, Chi RW18 Wheeler
43Derek Stepan, NYR CStreit Outta Compton!
44Jamie Benn, Dal LWTeam burd
45Patrick Sharp, Chi LWIce Queen
46Alexander Semin, Car RWKeep Calm And Bergeron
47Mike Green, Wsh DFresh Prince of Briere
48Max Pacioretty, Mon LWTeam Pastorella
Best Pick: Corey Crawford, in my opinion this is just great timing for a solid goalie pick.  I can just picture picks 41 - 48 drooling at Crawford's name only to see St. Pappys yank him off their lists!  He was a great pick last season that was crippled by a timeshare with Emery, but now that he has a fossil for back-up his value sky rockets!
Worst Pick: Mike Green, He could easily be the best D-man in the league, but we all know he will spend 60% of the season in one of your IR slots.  He just can't stop from falling apart.  If he does remain healthy all season then he'll help Fresh Prince of Briere immensely, but history tells me that's not happening.

Fifth Round:
49Jason Spezza, Ott CTeam Pastorella
50Andrei Markov, Mon DFresh Prince of Briere
51Zdeno Chara, Bos DKeep Calm And Bergeron
52Patrice Bergeron, Bos CIce Queen
53Jimmy Howard, Det GTeam burd
54Evander Kane, Wpg LWStreit Outta Compton!
55Jakub Voracek, Phi RW18 Wheeler
56Matt Moulson, NYI LWVanek at the Disco
57Thomas Vanek, Buf LWSt. Pappys
58Joe Thornton, SJ CThe Big O
59Johan Franzen, Det RWMoulson ICE
60Duncan Keith, Chi D  Legion-d'Emery of Doom
Best Pick: Jason Spezza, not only is he talented, but now he has Bobby Ryan with him.  I know he's another injury risk but it's the 5th round and that means it's time to start taking some risk.  If Spezza stays healthy he could reach another 80 point season, you all remember when he did that last... it's been a while, but I think he may pull it off.
Worst Pick: Andrei Markov, he has MAJOR knee reconstruction last year, but when he returned from that for the end of the season he looked like nothing ever happened.  I think this makes him a decent pick, but that reconstructed knee is going to get some serious work in a non shortened regular season.  I think he'll pay off as expected until around February... then Fresh Prince of Brier will be looking to drop him, so beware of a mid season trade for a hot Markov!

Sixth Round:
Best Pick: Marian Gaborick, honestly I expected him to be taken in the 5th round, but with our low turnout forcing some bad auto-picks he got tossed into the 6th round and was picked up for a steal by Vanek at the Disco!  He is also a bit of a gamble seeing as he's on the Blue Jackets questionable offense... but he's scored 40+ in past seasons, so this is a safer gamble than it seems!
Worst Pick: Jonathan Bernier, this is a BIG gamble for St. Pappys to make.  Bernier is a good goaltender and worthy of a 2nd on many teams, but drafting him in the 6th round? You'd be better off grabbing someone that you know could produce the W's... but with BIG gambles comes the potential of BIG returns... do you really think Bernier and Toronto will pay off BIG?

Seventh Round:
73Patrick Marleau, SJ LWTeam Pastorella
74Cory Schneider, NJ GFresh Prince of Briere
75Jarome Iginla, Bos RWKeep Calm And Bergeron
76Jason Pominville, Min RWIce Queen
77Ryan Kesler, Van CTeam burd
78Jeff Carter, LA LWStreit Outta Compton!
79Patrik Elias*, NJ LW18 Wheeler
80Drew Doughty, LA DVanek at the Disco
81Milan Lucic, Bos LWSt. Pappys
82Mike Ribeiro, Pho CThe Big O
83Alex Burrows, Van RWMoulson ICE
84Andrew Ladd, Wpg LW  Legion-d'Emery of Doom
Best Pick: Jason Pominville, Call me crazy but being on a top line with Zach Parise is just going to make things click for Pominville.  I think he's going to have a breakout season that will surprise most!
Worst Pick: Cory Schneider, Obviously over the pre-season he's proven that he can play very well for New Jersey, but he's locked into another timeshare.  And this time it's with a goalie New Jersey just wants to claim as a starter to try and cling onto a legend, Mr. Brodeur of course.

Eighth Round:
85Bobby Ryan, Ott RW  Legion-d'Emery of Doom
86David Backes, StL CMoulson ICE
87Alex Pietrangelo, StL DThe Big O
88Tobias Enstrom, Wpg DSt. Pappys
89Antti Niemi, SJ GVanek at the Disco
90Wayne Simmonds, Phi RW18 Wheeler
91Loui Eriksson, Bos LWStreit Outta Compton!
92P.A. Parenteau, Col RWTeam burd
93Sergei Gonchar, Dal DIce Queen
94James van Riemsdyk, Tor LWKeep Calm And Bergeron
95Nazem Kadri, Tor CFresh Prince of Briere
96Justin Williams, LA RWTeam Pastorella
Best Pick: Loui Eriksson, as long as he finds chemistry in Boston with Lucic and Krejci then he will be the biggest steal in this draft.  It's a bit of a gamble, but when you factor in that he also has dual positions of LW and RW.  He's versatile and has great potential!  One of my favorite picks this draft.
Worst Pick: Antti Niemi, this was one of the harder choices here.  I honestly don't think this is a bad pick-up, but I liked most of the picks this round.  The fact is that Niemi had a good season last year, but it was one of his best... and I can only call it good... I don't think he'll keep the same numbers, but I also don't think he will fall very short of them either.

Ninth Round:
97Mikko Koivu, Min CTeam Pastorella
98Jonas Hiller, Ana GFresh Prince of Briere
99Joe Pavelski, SJ RWKeep Calm And Bergeron
100Braden Holtby, Wsh GIce Queen
101Cam Ward, Car GTeam burd
102Devan Dubnyk, Edm GStreit Outta Compton!
103Brad Richards, NYR C18 Wheeler
104Gabriel Landeskog, Col LWVanek at the Disco
105Radim Vrbata, Pho RWSt. Pappys
106Jiri Tlusty, Car LWThe Big O
107Tomas Plekanec, Mon CMoulson ICE
108Blake Wheeler, Wpg RW  Legion-d'Emery of Doom
Best Pick: Brad Richards, the guy's numbers have seen better days, but he still produces.  He certainly hasn't lost any skill rather he seems to have trouble finding key chemistry.  If he finds it we're looking at at upwards of 60 assists, and if not... maybe low 40's.  Either way those numbers don't seem too bad! he's a great safe bet.
Worst Pick: Devan Dubnyk, I must say... when I saw this round unfold I cringed at this one... this is how I pictured it... Streit Outta Compton! realized he needed a goalie and it's getting late in the rounds... but he had to pull the trigger on Loui Eriksson in round 8, so he pushed this choice to round 9... and  he's smack in the middle so no worries.... right? WRONG... Fresh Prince of Brier, Ice Queen, and Team Burd all felt the same way... and he probably saw his initial picks for the round vanish before your eyes 3 times before he was left with Dubnyk.... I hope Eriksson pays off!  For this worst pick I had to post another image with my reaction....

Best Pick: Michael Ryder, I think Ryder has some potential to put up relevant numbers this season.  He'll likely see time on different lines as Jersey tries to find their stride, but he'll be touching the puck with some great talent, and he will see power play time.  He's a solid pick for players just outside the top 100.
Worst Pick: Brian Campbell, he'll certainly hit his projected numbers, but he'll end the season in the red with +/- and we count those as negatives.  He'll get dragged down in value in no time just for wearing a Florida jersey.

Alright GM's, that's my take on the draft picks!  You can see my picks in bold in each round as well.  I'm sure I'll look back at this write up come the post season and eat what I said, but that's how it goes.  If anyone wants to chime in or give a rebuttal please feel free to leave a comment just below this post!  Good luck out there this season GM's, and if you want to see the full draft list it can be found at this link:
